They Just Want To Be Heard

As adults, we want the best for our young people.

We see their potential. We worry for them.

We want to help, guide, protect.

So sometimes, in our love, we push.

Sometimes, in our fear, we pull.

We try to motivate. We give advice.

We offer solutions. We step in.

But what so many young people are quietly asking for is often without the words is this:

Please don’t push me.

Please don’t pull me.

Just be with me.

They don’t need perfect parenting.

They don’t need constant correcting.

They need presence.

They need the space to be heard.

To feel accepted where they are.

To know you’ll sit with them even in the silence.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do is say,

“I’m here. Take your time. I’m not going anywhere.”

As parents, guardians, and mentors, our job isn’t to lead them out of every shadow.

Sometimes, it’s to walk beside them until they find their own light.
